Community Involvement

Kale has always been heavily involved in the local community. Kale spent a number of years coaching junior and competitive minor hockey in the city, and takes great pride in his former players, who have not only gone on to professional hockey careers, but started businesses, attended medical school, joined the military, entered the financial industry, etc.

In 2017, Kale organized the inaugural Special Hockey Golf Classic to raise funds for the Ottawa Valley Ambassadors, a local special Olympics hockey team that Kale and his family have volunteered with for well over a decade. After raising sufficient funds for this organization, Kale shifted his attention to a cause he learned much about as a minor hockey coach – youth mental health. The Special Hockey Golf Classic thus started raising funds for Do It For Daron (DIFD) of the Royal Ottawa Foundation. DIFD is a youth-driven movement that creates an open dialogue about youth mental health. Since 2017, this golf tournament has raised in excess of $200,000 for these two deserving causes.

Kale’s involvement with the Royal Ottawa Foundation extends beyond the golf tournament, as he is the vice-chair of their young professionals’ network, and he sits on the committee for their “Leaders for Mental Health Breakfast,” a premiere charity event in the city, which raises high six figures annually in support of mental health.

Courtney has volunteered with the Special Hockey Golf Classic annually since joining the firm, and she takes part in many branch-led charitable initiatives that support the food bank the Shepherds of Good Hope among other deserving causes.

We are very fortunate to work with a firm that not only encourages community involvement, but also celebrates it.
