As a devoted father, Chris sought to volunteer and fundraise for an organization that reaches out to children. At the time, Chris was volunteering at the Kanata Food Cupboard. The search ended in 2009 with an introduction to The Zone, a Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre (WOCRC) youth drop-in centre. The centre was a perfect fit! It offers continuous support and counselling for youth, a bully prevention program, homework club, provides a safe environment for critical after school hours, and provides resources for parents and caregivers. In 2016, Chris was recognized by the WOCRC for his long-standing continuous support.
