Uriah Kane, BA, CFP, CLU
For as long as he can remember, Uriah has always loved interacting with people. That desire, along with his genuine thirst for a good adventure, landed him in Southern Mexico between 1997 and 1999, where he lived and volunteered his time in various service and humanitarian aid efforts. Add to that uncommon background, the fact that he moved around constantly in his childhood as his father worked as a Warden in various federal institutions for Corrections Canada, and you can understand why Uriah is not easily spooked by challenging situations.
As one of Raymond James’ senior insurance and estate planning specialists, Uriah engages in highly technical discussions with lawyers and accountants, as part of his role to explain and facilitate advanced corporate tax planning strategies for clients of the firm.
Uriah laments the fact there isn’t enough meaningful dialogue between financial planners and accountants, but intends to do his part to fix that.
“Some of the most meaningful work I do is reaching out to accountants to help educate them on why advanced insurance planning makes sense, and how it can be an effective tool to help preserve a client’s financial legacy – by protecting their family, building more wealth, and paying less tax. Who would have thought that some of the most progressive, tax-efficient financial planning we can offer clients happens to include permanent, cash-value, life insurance.”
As a result of his two years living in Latin-America, and having minored in Spanish as part of his Policy Studies undergraduate degree, Uriah is fluent in that language. Outside of work, he is actively involved in a number of administrative roles with his church, and volunteers his time in the community as an Executive Director with the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive. He enjoys spending time in the great outdoors with his wife and three daughters, loves a great card trick, and considers himself a bit of a foodie.
