Hi, My name is L.J. I am a cross-border financial advisor with Raymond James. I was born in Cleveland, Ohio and my family moved nine times by the time I was 12 years old. The last move was from Long Island, N.Y. to Vancouver, B.C. in 1986. My dad was transferred for a project while working for Coca Cola and coordinating their marketing for EXPO 86. I attended high school in Canada and college in the U.S. I played football in the C.F.L., and then became a personal banker. After two years, I found my passion to be in investing rather than loans and mortgages, and I used my U.S. citizenship to start my career as a Financial Advisor in Bellevue, Washington in 2000.
In 2007, I accepted a Resident Director position in Bellingham, Washington, and in 2012, I left the firm to become the President & CEO of Raymond James (U.S.A.) Ltd. in Vancouver, B.C. I had a good experience with my previous firm. However, in 2011, they had asked my parents to move their I.R.A. accounts to another firm because they lived in British Columbia and my firm could not support IRAs for Canadian residents. So, I resigned and took a role with Raymond James so I could solve problems for clients like my mom and dad. Since that move in 2012, I helped develop the Raymond James cross-border wealth management platform and recruit the first 100+ cross-border Raymond James Financial Advisors teams across Canada.
In 2019, I left the President & CEO role to focus on my cross-border wealth management practice.
