How about your health coverage?

Your investments are a vital consideration when moving from the US to Canada, and yet only one of many. Here’s another one: before it kicks in, your provincial health care coverage has a waiting period of up to 90 days. In other words, you will have no access to government-provided health care services for three months. Work with us in advance, however, and we can get you an insurance program that is essentially a private version of provincial health care coverage. And we will ensure it is available to you on your very first day here.

Then there is the matter of extended health benefits. If you need health coverage for glasses, dental, physical therapy and other expenses not covered by provincial health care, you will need to purchase a private medical plan. These plans require a medical questionnaire and will generally exclude pre-existing medical conditions, in some cases leading to a denial of coverage. But with some advance planning, we may be able to help you obtain coverage without a detailed medical questionnaire and ensure that pre-existing medical conditions are included.
