David Sherlock serves as SAGE’s Chief Investment Officer. He is a dedicated problem solver with a keen ability to interpret market data. As Portfolio Manager and Chief Investment Officer at SAGE Connected Investing, he oversees the team’s time-tested investment strategies, which focus on providing lower risk and attractive returns. David specializes in developing quantitative equity models for North American and European markets.

Professional Background

David graduated from the University of Calgary with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Political Science. He holds several professional designations, including Canadian Investment Manager, Personal Financial Planner, Financial Management Advisor, Associate of the Institute of Canadian Bankers, and Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute. With over 20 years of experience as a Portfolio Manager, David has successfully served high-net-worth families and has had notable careers in investment research and investment wholesaling.

Achievements

In 2012, David won the Globe & Mail Stock Picking Contest for professionals, achieving triple-digit returns and outperforming the combined results of the two runners-up. He is frequently invited to comment on investment and macroeconomic issues in both the national and international media, where his insights are highly valued.

Educational Contributions

David is passionate about educating both clients and the next generation of investment professionals. For the past two decades, he has taught course such as the Canadian Securities Course and other investment management courses at Mount Royal University. At the University of Calgary, he teaches "Investing for Success Level 1," "Investing for Success Level 2," and "Fundamentals of Stock Investing," consistently receiving top ratings from his students.
