Twelve Days of Christmas

This year the Raymond James Victoria branch is very pleased to be supporting two vital local area charities, the Christmas Spirit Community Dinner and the Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island's Bear Essentials program. And this year we are thrilled that Raymond James Ltd. and the Raymond James Canada Foundation are teaming up to match the first $15,000 in donations!

Please give generously and double the impact of your gift!

Christmas Spirit Community Dinner

"Financial support allows us the freedom to purchase anything and everything we need to buy that is not donated. Those donated items and services can vary greatly each year; this year in particular we have had no produce or food supplier step up other than with smaller gift certificates, therefore the majority of funds raised this year will be purchasing food for our 700+ guests who would normally go without. We also ensure that we have extra gifts on hand for children who may show up at the BBQ (but Santa’s Mighty Elves we will be ready!) as well as everything from decorations to vehicle rentals to child’s crafts to stationary to all the extra baking we may need to purchase as well as making sure we have our 500 Secret Santa Socks stuffed with treats for all the adults. Thank you for making our 25th Annual Christmas Spirit Community Dinner a reality. We very literally could not do what we do without you. For that, we are forever grateful. Seven hundred children from 1-92 will have smiles from ear to ear because of you."

Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island (The Bear Essentials)

"Seventeen-month-old Olivia was born with club feet—her feet were rotated so she could not place the bottom of her feet flat on the floor. To help correct the issues, she needs to wear a “boots and bar” set. The set costs more than $600 and is not covered by MSP. Extended health benefits often cover the set, but neither Erin nor her husband had coverage. Thankfully for them, their physiotherapist connected them with Children’s Health Foundation’s Bear Essentials program. The foundation purchased the boots and bar set for Olivia, who was adopted from Nunavut. At first, she had to wear the boots and bar throughout the day; now, she is doing so well, she only needs to wear them while she sleeps – which is good, because Olivia loves to run around and explore everything around her!"

Helping Sick Children Through the Click of a Button

Our colleagues at the Raymond James Victoria Branch have teamed up with their local CHEK TV, as well as the renowned Bobs and Lolo children's performers, to co-sponsor an innovative and fun program to raise awareness and funds for the BC Children's Hospital.

It revolves around a fun holiday jingle video featuring Bobs and Lolo and several children from across Vancouver Island who have been helped in some way by the BC Children's Hospital. For every view of the video, Raymond James will contribute 25 cents to the hospital (up to a maximum of $25,000).

"Last year alone over 2,300 kids from communities across Vancouver Island made more than 6,000 visits to the BC Children's hospital," said Branch Manager Sybil Verch. "All of our colleagues in the branch and in the families of our clients have had personal stories involving children, grandchildren or family friends who have been helped by the BC Children's Hospital. So, when we were asked, it was a unanimous decision for us to join this project."

In addition, the Victoria Branch is looking to generate even more awareness and funds at their upcoming client appreciation holiday party. In what promises to be a fun and memorable evening, the Raymond James Canada Foundation will be matching all client donations made at their 'Dr. Suess - Whoville' themed event (up to $25,000).

Dee-Ann Mayburry, advisor with the Victoria branch, added: "This initiative is a great example of our branch showing leadership in an important cause for children and families, and it's great to see everyone so excited. We invite others to join the fun and share this jingle with clients, contacts, friends and family members (especially little children)."

Be sure to check out the holiday jingle video and click away! Remember – the BC Children's Hospital will benefit every time someone views this cool video. So please forward on. But be careful, once you view this video you will be humming its catchy tune all day long – all for a good cause.

It was great to meet Bobs & Lolo, the TV Personalities at CHEK and most importantly the kids who benefit from BC Children's Hospital

Victoria Branch of Raymond James Shows Caring in Action!

Associates from the Raymond James Victoria, BC office celebrated National Volunteer Week (April 21-27) and got a jump on Raymond James Cares Month which was declared for May 2013. They volunteered at Pacifica Housing, a non-profit charitable organization that provides affordable housing for low income families, reduced market housing for families and singles, and affordable supportive housing for adults who struggle with mental health and/or addictions issues.

Branch personnel stepped in to help out with Pacifica Housing’s "Our Gardens" program for the 2013 season. “Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is an important part of the mission of Raymond James and has been for all of its 50 years,” said Sybil Verch, the Branch Manager of the Victoria office. “Nationally, we’ve declared May 2013 Raymond James Cares Month and we got a head start in Victoria, and also celebrated Earth Day in the greenest way possible!”

Christy Colpron, Manager of Communications & Fund Development, Pacifica Housing expressed her appreciation for support given by the volunteering members of the Victoria Branch: "We were thrilled to have Raymond James staff join us in kicking off our garden program this year! The volunteers were fantastic and helped weed, spread soil, turn dirt and plant seeds as well as BBQ'd for tenants. On behalf of all of us at Pacifica Housing, thank you to the Raymond James team for their support!"

Raymond James Cares Month is meant to encourage Raymond James colleagues across the country to come together and give back to the communities in which they live and work through volunteering.
