Will Reshoring Create New Opportunities?

In 2020, pandemic-prompted supply chain disruptions had profound global impacts on manufacturers trying to source components for their products and on consumers shopping for items as mundane as toilet paper. This was obviously also impacted by labour disruptions and government responses to public health concerns, but the repercussions are still being felt four years later as we continue to tackle the inflation aftermath.

In this publication we look at the resulting rethink on supply chains, efforts to bring manufacturing closer to home through ‘reshoring’ or ‘friend-shoring’ as other aspects such as geopolitical tensions have caused businesses and even governments to be more sensitive to the secured supply of critical elements and the protection of technological knowhow and capabilities. Could we be on the verge of a new age of reindustrialization in (North) America?
